Epic Film Critique

The Movie Epic is an animated Disney about good vs. evil.  It was set in a forest in America.   This film is mainly a film to entertain kids.  The main themes are blood is thicker than water, and to protect nature.  The film was well animated and decently interesting. The acting was flawless because it was animated. There was heavy usage of character development.  A young person would definitely be interested in this movie.  The strengths of this movie were it's animation, its usage of character development, and the showing the themes they were trying to use. The weaknesses is that the bad guys are so predictable, they always steal the thing the good guys need and try to turn it into something that the bad guys need to destroy the good guys.  Then the bad guys are always defeated.

Spooky House

This is my 1st semester test. When I was designing this house I was trying to make it look like a house that hasn't been up-kept for a few years. I will have to make up a story about this house, because I don't have a story about a creepy house from my childhood.
This house was owned by a mean old man and his old mangy dog who didn't want to have any neighbors so he built this house a few miles out of town.  While building the house the mangy dog died, and the old man buried him in the front yard.  A year after the house was completed the old man past away because he was so lonely without his best friend the mangy old flea bag.  He didn't have any relatives to inherit the house, and it has been abandoned ever since he past away.  It was going to be demolished, but it would cost too much so they just left it there to rot away.  Nobody goes there other than some kids that are occasionally taking dares to go into the house. Once in a while the college fraternity will make their pledges spend a night in the house for their initiation.

The Dominator Custom Vehicle

My custom vehicle is called The Dominator.  The term I have chosen is response time, it is the time it takes to switch the pixels from one color to another.  If a monitor changes color slowly then it has a slow response time.  For The Dominator I used a Ford Raptor truck as the main vehicle. The back tires were replaced with the treads from a half track.  The cowcatcher on the front is off of a train.  The machine gun mounted on the roof is from a World War 2 jeep.  The wings are from an A 10 Warthog ground attack aircraft.  I chose to give it a camouflaged paint job.
Here are the vehicles I used to make it.

Magazine

For my magazine I chose to make a sailing magazine.  One of the concepts I used from the article is Typography, I used the same font for all of the typing, but I made it stand out by changing the size and color.  Also for typography I used the same font for the masthead, but masked it with a rope design, because rope is associated with the rigging of sailboats.  My inspiration was a summer camp I went to this summer where I was at sea on a sailboat for a week, and I have really liked sailing ever since then.  I also planned this cover in advance, by sketching it in my sketch book.

Lucky 13

This is the logo I created for my team Lucky 13.  I based it on the 13 pool ball.  The horseshoe and clovers are symbols of good luck since the team name is Lucky 13, and the black cats are symbols of bad luck, because 13 is an unlucky number.  The 4 colors my team used are purple, gold, black, and green.  The RGB of the Green is Red 20,Green 120, and  Blue 10.  The RGB of the purple is Red 107, Green 13, and Blue is 178.  The RGB for the black is all zeros.  The RGB for the gold is Red 255, Green 215, and Blue 0.

Comic strip

This is my Spongebob Squarepants comic strip.  It is based on the joke of "Why do seagulls fly over the sea?  Because if they flew over the bay they'd be bagels".  The area around the comic strip is a gradient of blue because it is under the sea.  I tried to put a background behind Spongebob and Patrick, but it showed through them.   I enjoyed doing this comic strip.
I also did senor designer.

Eddie the Donkey

Here is my Eddie the donkey project.  I started on this project by watching the videos to learn how to do this project.  I then used the magnetic lasso to select the barn, and the polygon lasso to neaten it up.  I then moved it over to the field.  I then selected Eddie with the magic wand which was extremely easy, and  moved him to the doorway of the barn after re-sizing him.  I then made the grass of the field look       unkempt, and then put over grown grass around the barn.

This is my movie poster for the new movie Thor: The Dark World.  I put Thor flying over Asgard holding his hammer above his head because he is the main character. The original image of Thor had a lightning bolt going through his cape. I had to remove the background using the quick select tool which removed the bolt. I created a new lighting bolt to blend with the streak of lightning in his cape so it doesn't look out of place.  I made the other characters heads fade into the background because I thought it would look cool. The edge of Jane's face lines up with the edge of the moon to make it blend better. The names of the actors at the bottom kind of blended with the background so they aren't as clear as I would of liked them to be.   I really enjoyed this project!

Color Theory Collage Self Portrait

This is my collage I chose orange because I am energetic and happy.  I put the symbol for Boy Scout troop 224 because that is the Scout troop I am part of.  I put the picture of the tent because I enjoy camping.   I put the picture of the AC Cobra because I like classic cars. I then placed the picture of the Magic logo because I really enjoy a card game called magic. I had some issues getting the backgrounds removed from the images, because it took me many tries to get it to select the background only.

Animals, Initals, Masking, and Texture

This is my cat I made with my initials.    I turned the R for my middle name Ryan around to create the face and front legs.  I then took the J from my first name Jonathan and rotated it onto its side to create the cat's body and tail.  Then I took the C from my last name Copeland and turned it sideways to create the cat's back legs.  I then masked the texture of cat fur over everything. I then experimented with the brush tool to create whiskers.
